NATCHEZ &045; Nine city neighborhoods and three county ones are signed up to participate in Tuesday’s annual National Night Out.
For the first time ever, the Adams County Sheriff’s Office will visit county stops of its own in Broadmoor, Morgantown and LaGrange subdivisions.
The three county stops have established Neighborhood Watch groups in the last few months, and the ACSO decided to make their own stops this year, Deputy Chuck Latham said. Last year sheriffs deputies traveled with city officers to several locations in the city limits.
Natchez police officers and city elected officials will make stops in the Kenny Graves, Oakridge Manor, Mazique Lane, Susie B. West, Creek Street, Roselawn, West Stiers, Homewood and Old Washington Road areas.
Residents are encouraged to lock their doors, cookout and get to know neighbors while waiting on the officers to arrive.
The parade of officers will bring information for the adults and toys for the children.
City officers will arrive at the first neighborhood at 5 p.m. and the last by 9 p.m.
The city group will also be joined by Concordia Parish officials and will drive through Vidalia around 6:30 p.m.
The event goes on nationwide in over 10,000 communities.
