Alcorn State University will register new students until Friday and may extend the deadline past then, President Clinton Bristow said.

&uot;We’ve had a number of calls, a lot of calls on Friday,&uot; he said. &uot;We are asking our faculty members to take time with them and work out a catch up schedule for class assignments.&uot;

Honor students will also volunteer to work with new students.

Bristow said the school might see around 100 new students, 50 in Natchez and 50 in Lorman, and maybe more.

He said the Natchez nursing school could see a boon in enrollment if students from New Orleans’ Dillard University opt to come to ASU.

Classes resumed at ASU Tuesday, and the Lorman campus is running at about 90 percent, Bristow said. Some campus buildings received storm damage, and a few are still without power. The school has moved classes and residence hall space to accommodate.

The Lorman campus is also playing host to several families who evacuated from the coast.

Copiah-Lincoln Community College is accepting transfers until Friday, too.

Classes are still out at all Co-Lin campuses but will resume on Monday. Students wishing to enroll can contact the Co-Lin admissions office.
