D&J Construction, Inc. bid $472,022.00 and Diamond B. Construction bid $499,022.08.

Juror Willie Dunbar asked why he was not notified of work that had been done on Moose Lodge Extension, a road in his district.

&uot;This did create problems for people in my district,&uot; Dunbar said. &uot;They called me and I didn’t know the answer. I gave people the wrong answer.&uot;

Concordia Parish Engineer Bryant Hammett, who oversaw the work, said the work was done with money from the State of Louisiana that had been a part of a $1.7 million grant received in 1997.

The grant was intended to help ease traffic flow problems near the Vidalia Industrial Park, Hammett said.

&uot;I should have talked to you since that is in your district,&uot; Hammett said. &uot;Š The short answer is we could send the money back or use it to repair a road built in 1997 that was already having problems.&uot;
