Ringgold ends Blocks hopes

RINGGOLD, La. &8212; Even though Block went into its game against Ringgold at just 2-6 overall and 1-3 in District 3-1A, the Bears still had a chance of making the playoffs &8212; but only if they could pull out a win.

Block went into its game at No. 34 in the Class 1A power ratings despite its record. Which meant a win over the Redskins, who went into the game at No. 26 in the 1A power ratings &8212; and a loss by a few teams ahead of them could, believe it or not, put the Bears in the playoffs.

Instead, Ringgold scored 14 points each in the second and fourth quarters en route to a 28-8 win over Block, ending any hopes of the Bears being in the playoffs under first-year head coach Scott Green.

&8220;If we had won we definitely would&8217;ve been in,&8221; Green said. &8220;A loss means we&8217;re done for the season.&8221;
