NATCHEZ &8212; After getting off to a slow start, the Trinity Episcopal Lady Saints used a 14-6 advantage in the second quarter to defeat a good Amite School Center Lady Rebels team 50-32 Tuesday night at Clyde Adams Arena.
Three Lady Saints players scored in double figures &8212; Mallory Archer with 16 points, Brandy Hall with 11 and Eliza Jones with 10 as they improved to 2-2 on the season.
&8220;I was just real happy for the girls. It was the first regular season game at home,&8221; Lady Saints head coach Melanie Hall said. &8220;I thought we played good defense. Our execution on offense wasn&8217;t real good. Our shots weren&8217;t falling.&8221;
Which showed in the first quarter as Trinity held a precarious 8-5 lead at the end of that quarter. But it was Trinity&8217;s defense that led to easy fast-break lay-ups in the second quarter as the Lady Saints pulled away from the Lady Rebels.
