The 1998 documentary &8220;Tango: The Obsession&8221; traces the history of the Argentine dance from its African and European roots, through its forbidden period and into its current renaissance.

The film, which will begin at 7 p.m., includes dance footage and interviews with some of the great dancers.

The following film, &8220;The Tango Lesson&8221; is an autobiographical drama telling Sally Potter&8217;s story of how she fell in love with the dance.

Christina Johnson said the two movies &8212; aside from being highly entertaining &8212; provide a good background into tango.

&8220;Tango is not just a dance, it&8217;s a culture; people will get a feel for the complexity and beauty of tango and why people fall in love with it,&8221; she said.

The Gritz &8217;n&8217; Glitz, which Johnson is organizing, features tango classes, demonstrations and nightly dances from Dec. 28 through Jan. 1. Johnson announced one change to the program&8217;s schedule: the Jan. 1 dinner and dancing will now be held at Strega Nona&8217;s on Main Street.

There is space available for 20 people.
