Brixey funeral Friday

Vidalia &8212; Funeral services for Lance Cpl. Billy &8220;B.J.&8221; Brixey will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Westside Baptist Church in Ferriday.
Brixey&8217;s body was scheduled to arrive in Baton Rouge Wednesday night and then be transported to Vidalia by military escort.
The family will hold a private visitation at 10 a.m. today, and friends and family are invited to meet at the church starting at 3 p.m. today.
Visitation will continue until service time Friday. Someone will be at the church to receive guests throughout the visitation.
The funeral, a full military ceremony, will be at 1 p.m. Friday, said Mary Draughn of the Southeast Division of the Marine Corps League.
A military burial will follow in Rogers Cemetery in Clayton under the direction of Comer Funeral Home.
Brixey, 21, died Friday in Germany from injuries sustained during a bombing in Afghanistan where he was serving. Brixey was a Marine mechanic and had been in Afghanistan less than a month.
He was assigned to the 1st Battalion of the 3rd Marine Regiment at Kaneohe Bay. He was scheduled to be in Afghanistan for seven months.
He was awarded the Good Conduct Medal, the Afghanistan Campaign Medal, the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal and the National Defense Service Medal.
Brixey was a 2002 graduate of Vidalia High School, where he played football. He joined the Marines just after graduation.
His parents Billy and Cassandra Brixey live in Vidalia.
Brixey is the fourth Miss-Lou resident to die in military service since 2003.
Henry Brown of Natchez was killed April 8, 2003 in Iraq. Rick Morris of Monterey died in March 2004 in Iraq. And Todd Partridge of Natchez and Vidalia died in August 2005 in Iraq.
