NATCHEZ &8212; Natchez High, Cathedral and Franklin County aren&8217;t the only local soccer teams to make the playoffs this year.

Make way for the Trinity Episcopal Saints, who went 2-9-1 and will be the No. 4 seed out of the South in the MPSA Overall Boy&8217;s Soccer Tournament for Division II.

&8220;This is the best team Trinity&8217;s ever had,&8221; Saints head coach Scott Hanson said. &8220;They play well together. Soccer&8217;s new. It&8217;s going to take a while to get up and going.&8221;

Division II, which is 1A and 2A, has 10 teams, five in the south and five in the north.

The Saints will have their hands full when they travel to Raymond to take on the Central Hinds Cougars, the No. 1 seed out of the South, on Monday at 3 p.m. in a first-round game.

Central Hinds goes into the playoffs with an impressive 11-0-1 record and a No. 4 ranking in the MPSA Top 5 poll.

&8220;They&8217;re pretty good,&8221; Hanson said. &8220;We&8217;re going to do the best we can. We&8217;ve had this week off, and we&8217;ve been practicing every day. They&8217;re very excited. It&8217;s the first time we&8217;ve won two games since we started. It&8217;s also our first time in the playoffs.&8221;

Trinity will be led by Colby Godfrey, the team&8217;s leading scorer with five goals, John Mark Henderson, Chas Moroney, Blaine Mifiga and Trey Wallace, one of only two seniors on the team.

&8220;They&8217;re all good,&8221; Hanson said. &8220;We have a young team. We have a lot of juniors on our team.&8221;
