Kendall Byrd pleaded guilty to simple robbery charges last year and was sentenced to five years on that charge. Kendell Shorts, Tasha Hunt, LaTasha Yerby and a minor pleaded guilty last year to accessory to the crime charges.

Byrd and Shorts were present on the night of the crime but did not carry the weapon. The three women reportedly helped the three men hide in the days after the robbery.

Brown allegedly entered the gas station with a covered face and took about $250 in cash from the register along with cigarettes and beer.

No one was injured in the incident.

In addition to testimony from the other involved parties, the state has fingerprints from a pack of dropped cigarettes that link Brown to the scene, Harper said.

Brown will serve his time with the Mississippi Department of Corrections.
