FERRIDAY &8212; An early morning fire destroyed a home on Abraham Lane and sent a mother and her 1-year-old son to the burn center in Shreveport.

Latonya Butler&8217;s 2-month-old twin girls and her husband, Daniel, escaped with minor burns. Several other children had already left for school before the 8:30 a.m. fire started.

Concordia Parish Fire District No. 2 chief Nolen Cothren said the fire was too far under way when the trucks arrived.

&8220;It was an old, old house; it didn&8217;t take too long for it to go up,&8221; he said.

According to Cothren, Daniel Butler said his wife woke him up, and the house was ablaze. They got their three infants out of the house. The twins suffered minor burns and were taken to Riverland Medical Center for treatment.

The Butlers rented the house at 103 Abraham Lane, near the intersection of Doty Road; Cothren said he was trying to locate the owner.

A witness told Cothren Butler&8217;s Ford Explorer parked out front had started the fire. Cothren said he was considering the possibility while continuing to investigate.

Attempts to contact Daniel Butler were unsuccessful.
