Published 12:00 am Saturday, March 4, 2006

Good morning, and welcome to the new Natchez Democrat. Your hometown newspaper has undergone a few changes &8212; new typefaces, more white space, new features.

But what&8217;s inside will always be the same &8212; the only daily coverage of Miss-Lou news.

We&8217;re proud of the new look you have in your hands; we think it is crisper, cleaner and more reader friendly.

We&8217;ve added new features that allow you to interact even more with your daily newspaper &8212; including publishing the online poll results every day, as you can see below.

But, as with any new project, there is always room for improvement.

And we want to hear from you.

Let us know what you think about our new design, organization and content. We hope you will enjoy the new features, such as an entertainment calendar, spotlights on local achievements and reader photos.

We know the changes will take some getting used to &8212;

especially the new locations of some regular features and the new look of the newspaper as a whole. But we hope you&8217;ll be patient with us.

After all, your newspaper may have a new look, but our commitment to you and to local news has not changed.

All of us at The Democrat consider ourselves stewards of your hometown newspaper. After all, it&8217;s our hometown, too.
