ST. JOSEPH &8212; With the District 7-A championship still hanging in the balance, the last thing the Huntington Hounds could afford was a loss to the last-place Tensas Chiefs in their final district game of the season.

But that almost happened until Huntington rallied for five runs in the top of the seventh inning, which was aided by Huston Eliser&8217;s three-run home run, to defeat Tensas Tuesday afternoon.

Huntington (9-1, 13-7) scored one run off

pitcher Zack Jones in the top of the first inning, but the Hounds only had one hit through six inning and didn&8217;t score again until they absolutely needed to as they were down 2-1 going into the top of the seventh.

&8220;Their kid threw a pretty good ball game,&8221; Hounds head coach Mitch Ashmore said. &8220;We didn&8217;t hit the ball well until the end. We finally hit the ball in the seventh. We got the hits when we needed them.&8221;

Before Eliser&8217;s key home run, Trey Corbett had an RBI double to tie the game at 2-2 and Ples Arthur hit the go-ahead RBI single that made it a 3-2 game.

Even though Jones was the losing pitchers, Jones did a solid job for Tensas (1-8 in 7-A) on the mound, holding a good-hitting Huntington team to just four hits.

Ashmore used three pitchers in the game &8212; Eliser, who pitched the first inning; Brant Bradley, who pitched the next three innings; and winning pitcher Trey Brasher, who pitched the final three innings.

BASTROP, La. &8212; Timmy Foster held the Spartans to four singles, struck out 10 and walked one while getting two hits, including a home run, as the Rebels rolled to an easy win in a District 3-AA game Tuesday night.

Adams Christian (9-0, 18-2), which had already claimed the district title, is going for something just as important &8212; going undefeated in district play. And the Rebels are just one win away from doing that.

The Rebels broke a scoreless game with five runs in the top of the fifth inning. C.J. Wright had an RBI single, David New doubled to score Wright and Foster, Austin Weeks had an RBI sacrifice fly, and Eric Perry scored on a double by Eric Perry.

Foster hit a solo home run in the top of the fourth inning and Luke Brumfield had a two-run triple in the top of the seventh.
