VIDALIA &8212; For some, yard work is a chore.

For Mark Clark, it&8217;s part of a budding routine that&8217;s blooming good deeds.

A resident of a quiet neighborhood, located on Miranda Street in Vidalia, Clark has helped to improve neighborhood appearances by landscaping houses just because he wants to help.

&8220;I take pride in the neighborhood and I&8217;m just trying to help people out,&8221; said Clark pointing to the newly landscaped yard. &8220;I did my yard, and others wanted help so I helped them. I help anyone who wants help.&8221;

Shirley Walton, Clark&8217;s neighbor, saw Clark&8217;s work and was in awe, he said.

&8220;She told me she would give anything for her yard to look like mine but didn&8217;t have any money,&8221; Clark said. &8220;So when she was admitted to the hospital, I went over and did her yard for her. I can&8217;t wait until she comes home.&8221;

The project turned into a neighborhood effort, drawing attention to the newly mulched and planted flowerbeds. Other members of the neighborhood asked Clark for his assistance in cleaning and improving their yards.

&8220;I&8217;ll come home sometimes and he&8217;ll be mowing my yard,&8221; 17-year neighborhood resident Diane Johnson said. &8220;He&8217;s worked hard a lot of afternoons, and I just think what he is doing is a great thing.&8221;

Professional landscaping estimates totaled around $4,000 for each yard, Clark said. With the help of Uptons Nursery, Clark completed Walton&8217;s yard for around $350 a yard.

&8220;This is not about me,&8221; Clark said. &8220;I just wanted to get people inspired to clean up and help others.&8221;

The yards Clark has landscaped stick out, and the bright colors of the newly planted flowers are turning heads, Johnson said.

&8220;People work hard all day long, and when they come home, they don&8217;t want to do yard work,&8221; Johnson said. &8220;Thanks to him inspiring people, the whole street of Miranda is about to be lifted up.&8221;
