Deer park &8212; At 2 p.m. Friday, 72 hours had passed since Jeffery D. Hauer&8217;s body was reported missing.

Hauer, 35, of Natchez, was last seen yelling for help by residents of Deer Park in Old River. Hauer was on a fishing trip when something went wrong, causing him to be thrown in the water and never seen again. Neighbors saw him in the water, but by the time they got to the boat ramp near where he went under, he was gone.

&8220;We&8217;re just sitting around waiting on Mother Nature to do her thing,&8221; Adams County Sheriff&8217;s Search and Rescue Executive Director Carl Champlin said. &8220;The body will float up. It will just be a matter of time.&8221;

Search and rescue crews from surrounding areas have been at the river since The Concordia Parish Sheriff&8217;s Department received the call reporting the incident at 2:15 p.m., Tuesday.

&8220;We were hoping that storm would roll him loose, but it didn&8217;t,&8221; Champlin said. &8220;The water is so cold down there on the bottom. It might just take a little longer.&8221;

Steps taken including dragging the bottom of the lake, using cadaver dogs and visual inspection could possibly be followed by a helicopter inspection, Sheriff Ronny Brown said.

&8220;I called and told the Concordia Parish Sheriff&8217;s office that the helicopter was available if they wanted to use it,&8221; he said.

Fisherman in the area have been asked to be on the lookout for the missing body, but the river has not been closed for recreational use, Champlin said.
