FERRIDAY &8212; Ferriday police are looking for a suspect after a Sunday morning shooting.
Around 4 a.m., Gregory Drane, 42, 309 John Glenn Ave., Natchez, was shot on First Street in Ferriday. Drane is in stable condition in a Vicksburg hospital, Ferriday Chief of Police Richard Madison said.
&8220;Right now we&8217;re working on several leads,&8221; he said. &8220;We recovered a shot casing at the scene and have several eye witnesses.&8221;
The cause of the shooting, Madison said, is undetermined at this time.
&8220;From what we could determine a white male was shot by an unidentified black male,&8221; Madison said. &8220;We are looking at several suspects in this case.&8221;
About this time last year Ferriday saw a crime streak including three shootings and one stabbing in just over 72 hours.
No one was killed in last year&8217;s incidents, but all were close calls, Madison said.
All four occurred between acquaintances. Arrests were made in all but one of the cases shortly after they occurred.
In November, an argument led to a fatal shooting on Kyle Road. An arrest was made shortly thereafter.
