NATCHEZ &8212; Only 354 votes were cast, in Adams County, in Tuesday&8217;s Democratic Primary election run-off for U.S. Senate.
In the last Democratic Primary election, June 5, 4 percent of Adams County&8217;s registered voters participated in the election.
In this election 1.7 percent participated.
Erik Fleming of Jackson received 87.9 percent of the votes with 305 while Bill Bowlin of Hickory Flat received 11.82 percent with 41 votes.
There was one write-in vote which counts for .29 percent and the rest were blank ballots cast.
The Democratic resolution board will count absentee ballots on Thursday.
Despite the low voter turnout, District 5 Election Commissioner, Mitch Ballard, said he was pleased with the election.
&8220;I just predicted 100 votes because of the lack of information by both candidates,&8221; Ballard said. &8220;And as it turned out there were more.&8221;
Ballard said he was also happy with the way the new touch-screen-voting machines worked in this election.
&8220;Last time we had a few issues with the machines, and this time there were none,&8221; Ballard said.
Ballard said the low turnouts for both the Democratic Primary and the run-off elections allowed the election commissioners to iron out problems and prepare for the bigger election in November.
