Ridgecrest&8212; Officials suspect juveniles set two houses on fire in Ridgecrest Friday evening.

At 6:10 p.m. Ridgecrest Fire Chief Lynn Delaney received a call about a house fire at 408 Vidalia Drive.

While the men were putting out that fire, Delaney said he received another call about a house fire at 123 Apple St.

&8220;The house on Apple Street was badly damaged but restorable,&8221; Delaney said. &8220;The house on Vidalia Drive, however, will have to be rebuilt.&8221;

Delaney said one of the juvenile suspects was apprehended that evening and released to parents&8217; custody but the fire marshal has not contacted him about a possible second suspect.

The chief said there was no one in either house at the time of the fires and there were no injuries to any witnesses.

&8220;We also had a lot of help from the Concordia Parish Fire District and the Ferriday Fire Department,&8221; Delaney said.

Delaney said both fires were started in the laundry rooms, within the garages of the houses and that the case is still under investigation by the state fire marshal and Concordia Parish Sheriff&8217;s Office.

&8220;I&8217;d just like to warn the people of Ridgecrest to be vigilant and be on the look-out for anyone suspicious going through yards or sneaking around neighborhoods,&8221; Delaney said.
