NATCHEZ &8212; One might call it a perfect night.

Two Cathedral quarterbacks combined to throw for 216 yards and four touchdowns while completing all 10 pass attempts in a 48-8 win over West Lincoln.

&8220;We looked good in the passing game,&8221; said Cathedral head coach Ken Beesley. &8220;Patrick (McDonough) was on target all night, and Preston (Edwards) was good in relief. We played pretty well offensively.&8221;

The Green Wave took the momentum in a big way midway through the first quarter when McDonough connected with Braxton Fondren on a 50-yard touchdown pass with 4:53 remaining. Harrison Burns added the extra point.

Only 20 seconds later, Fondren once again found himself in the end zone when he intercepted a halfback pass and took it 24 yards to paydirt to add to Cathedral&8217;s lead.

Things only got worse for the Bears in the second quarter, as the Green Wave scored two more quick touchdowns on a one-yard run by Taylor Brantley and a nine yard pass from McDonough to Forrest White.

McDonough was taken out of the game late in the first half, and all backup Edwards did was throw a 48 yard touchdown pass to Daniel Culbert on his first attempt. The touchdown was set up by a fumble recovery by Josh Gamberi.

Edwards threw for another touchdown to Blas/ Bradford and ran for one more in the second half before West Lincoln finally broke through with a touchdown late in the fourth quarter.

Cathedral racked up 321 yards of total offense and held West Lincoln to only 200 &8212; a total of 14 passing yards.

Beesley said he was surprised by the lopsided score.

&8220;I felt like we had a good chance of winning this game, but I didn&8217;t think we&8217;d win like that,&8221; he said. &8220;I felt we could score but not as easily as we did.

&8220;The best part is we&8217;ve got our two biggest games of the year coming up back-to-back and we&8217;re healthy. We didn&8217;t get anybody hurt tonight and that&8217;s good.&8221;
