Busy season brings good news to area

As pilgrimage, balloon race and now maze craze seasons approach things are moving faster and faster in the Miss-Lou. But let&8217;s slow down for a minute to review the good things going on around us.
4Vidalia&8217;s growing. Literally. The city will annex an area at the ends of Alabama Street and Elm Street, taking in 22 lots for residential housing.
The lots are already in high demand, Mayor Hyram Copeland said. It has been awhile since Vidalia has had a residential development, and everyone seems to want in on the deal.
4Some creative thinkers from Sweden think Natchez may be a good place to market their inventions in hopes of selling them across the country. Though the group is looking for financing, they obviously recognize entrepreneurship and a good business sense in our area.
4And after settling a long-running clean water case in Ferriday, the town is ready to do what it takes to ensure clean water in the future.
Mayor Gene Allen said this week that the town is looking to purchase a 500,000-gallon water storage tank for the water plant. He also wants to replace out-dated equipment at the plant.
The town will have to seek out federal and state funds to make the updates a reality, but it is good to see Allen and his team making such an important issue a priority.
We hope the coming week is filled with as much good news as last week.
