NATCHEZ &8212; The city is looking for community feedback and ideas on plans for the Forks of the Road site.

As part of a feasibility study on the historic site, the city and the National Park Service will host a public meeting at 6:30 p.m. Thursday.

&8220;This is a chance for people who want to express their opinions on the protection and future of the site,&8221; city Cultural Resource Manager Brett Brinegar said. &8220;This is an opportunity to do that.&8221;

A consulting group, Mangi Environmental, from out-of-town is handling the study. They will be on hand to answer questions and share ideas.

Public meetings will be held throughout the process, Brinegar said.

Ideas for the Forks of the Road site have included an interpretive center or a memorial, Mayor Phillip West said.

This study is aimed at deciding what idea best meets the needs of the site and the community. The park service is also considering adopting the land.

&8220;It&8217;s a boundary study,&8221; Brinegar said. &8220;A study is traditionally done by the park service when it considers taking a certain site into the park system. It&8217;s also a feasibility study to determine what&8217;s feasible to do in terms of exhibits and memorials.&8221;

West said he didn&8217;t know what kind of crowd to expect at Thursday&8217;s meeting, but hoped the community would come ready to share ideas.

&8220;I think a lot of people are interested,&8221; he said. &8220;I&8217;m not so sure there would be a lot of people with particular ideas.&8221;

The meeting will be at the Natchez Community Center at 215 Franklin St.
