Sarah Ashley Waycaster
Sept. 27, 1926 – Nov. 9, 2006
NATCHEZ – Services for Sarah Ashley Waycaster, 80, of Natchez, who died Thursday, Nov. 9, 2006, at Natchez Community Hospital, were held at 10 a.m. Saturday at Laird Funeral Home Union Street Chapel with Brother Jim Talbert officiating.
Burial followed at Greenlawn Cemetery under the direction of Laird Funeral Home.
Visitation was from 9 a.m. until service time Saturday at the funeral home.
Mrs. Waycaster was born Sept. 27, 1926, in Wilkinson County, the daughter of Seymore and Ida Perry Ashley.
She was a member of the Church of Christ in Vidalia.
Mrs. Waycaster was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Velma Ashley Maxie, Doris Ashley Johnston, Lurlee Ashley and Dorothy Ashley; and brothers, Grady Ashley and Lamire Ashley.
Survivors include her husband, Roy Waycaster of Natchez.
Pallbearers will be Byron Boyette, Casie Smith, Gary Smith, Mike Hazlip, James Fuqua and Buddy Wade.

NATCHEZ – Funeral arrangements for Rebecca Thompson, 79, of Woodville, who died Sunday, Nov. 12, 2006, at her residence, are incomplete at Webb Funeral System.
Johnny C. Brazzell
Aug. 20, 1941- Nov. 12, 2006
JONESVILLE – Services for Johnny C. Brazzell, 65, of Monterey, who died Sunday, Nov. 12, 2006, at his residence, will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Jonesville Church of God with the Rev. Brad Crooks, Bro. Pervon Paul and Bro. Jerry Steele officiating.
Burial will follow at Oswalt Cemetery under the direction of Young’s Funeral Home, Ferriday.
Visitation will be from 5 p.m. until service time today at the church.
Mr. Brazzell was born Aug. 20, 1941, in Jonesville, the son James Orell and Evelyn Brazzell. He was an oil field worker and a member of the Jonesville Church of God.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Joyce Evelyn Brazzell; and brothers, James Roy Brazzell and Glen Dale Brazzell.
Survivors include his wife, Adalene Brazzell of Monterey; daughters, Debra Locke of Henderson, Texas, Donna Brazzell, Pam Crouch of Patterson, and Lisa Police of Pineville; sons, James Rodney Crouch and wife, CeCe, and Michael Crouch and wife, Jennifer, all of Monterey; grandchildren, Amanda Estes, Brandon Wiley, Kory Crouch, Heather Leavins, Dustin Leavins, and Jesse Leavins, Crystal Locke, Randy Crouch, Will Crouch, Macee Crouch, and Marlee Crouch; brothers, David Brazzell and wife, Caroline, of Tioga, La., Raymond Brazzell and wife, Diane, of Bossier City, and Paul Brazzell and wife, Michelle, of Houston; sisters, Patsy Goff and husband, Harold, of Greenwood, La., and Shirley Crooks and husband, Brad, of Jonesville; a host of nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Michael Crouch, Dustin Leavins, Jesse Leavins, Albert Crouch, Chris Brazzell and Brandon Wiley.
Honorary pallbearers will be Jimmy Rogers, John Perritt and Ricky Estes.

John L. Spillers

NATCHEZ – Graveside services for John L. Spillers, 54, of Baton Rouge, who died Sunday, Nov. 12, 2006, at his residence, will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at Greenlawn Memorial Park with Dr. Edgar Wright officiating.
Burial will follow under the direction of Laird Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Mr. Spillers was born Feb. 8, 1952, in Natchez, the son of Lloyd Stanley and Lillie Spears Spillers. He was a member First Baptist Church in Natchez. He was owner and operator of Spillers Economy Optical for 21 years.
He was preceded in death by his father; and sister, Sydney Victoria Spillers.
Survivors include his wife, Sonja Spillers of Baton Rouge; son, Luke Spillers and wife, Sara Beth, of Natchez; daughter, Brooke Crum and husband, Ryan, of Denham Springs; grandson, Aidan Rayford Spillers of Natchez; mother, Lillie S. Spillers of Vidalia; sister, Diane Spillers Landers and husband, Fred of Lake Concordia; brother, Buddy Spillers and wife, Phyllis of Lake Concordia; father-in-law, Rayford Smith and wife, Betty, of Natchez; sister-in-law, Cindy Eubanks of Baton Rouge; a number of nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be David Yates, Danny Yates, Frank Cotton, Billy Wiggins, Mike Williams, and David Burrows.
Bonnie Russell
Jan. 30, 1934 – Nov. 12, 2006
FERRIDAY – Services for Bonnie Russell, 72, of Monterey, who died Sunday, Nov. 12, 2006, at Riverland Medical Center-Ferriday, will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Young’s Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Charles Nathan Clark and the Rev. Kevin Sims officiating.
Burial will follow at Magnolia-Campbell Cemetery, in Monterey, under the direction of Young’s Funeral Home, Ferriday.
Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Mrs. Russell was born Jan. 20, 1934, in Greenfield, the daughter of Albert and Ludie Yates. She was a resident of Monterey and a member of the Church of Christ. Momma was the greatest mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who loved you unconditionally.
She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Bernice Keen, Hazel Penson, and Shirley Moore; and brother, Buford Yates.
Survivors include her daughter, Cherie Lipsey and husband, Dan, of Monterey and Glenda Helbig of Greenville; sons, Ricky Russell and wife, Belinda, of Springfield, Mo. and Garrett Russell and wife, Laura, of Sylva, N.C.; sisters, Erma Redd of Natchez and Velma Yates of Meridian; brothers, Ed Yates and Chas Yates, both of Meridian; 15 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; brother-in-law, Jack Keen of Meridian; and special friend, Ben Pierce of Meridian.
Pallbearers will be her grandsons, Jonathan Lipsey, Daniel Russell, Jason Russell, Ryan Helbig, Garreth Russell, Michael Morgan and Joshua Lipsey.

Hugh Gordon Rose
Aug. 1, 1918 – Nov. 11, 2006
NATCHEZ – Services for Hugh Gordon Rose, 88, of Beaumont, Texas, formerly of Groves, Texas, who died Saturday, Nov. 11, 2006, at Calderwood, in Beaumont, will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Laird Funeral Home Union Street Chapel with the Rev. Steve Purvis officiating.
Burial will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park under the direction of Laird Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from noon until service time Wednesday at the funeral home.
Mr. Rose was born Aug. 1, 1918, in Andalusia, Ala., the son of James Henry Rose and Winnie Ida Davis Rose. He was a 1948 graduate of Auburn University with a degree in Civil Engineering. He worked in the Engineering Department of Texaco Refinery and at the Houston office of the U. S. Refining Department and was Manager of the U. S. Maintenance Refining Department. He retired in 1979 from Texaco, Inc. in Port Arthur. Hugh served in World War II and remained in the Army Reserve following the war until his retirement in 1978 as a Lt. Colonel.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Marie Farmer Rose; son, George Edward “Buddy” Farmer; and grandson, Larry Arnold.
Survivors include a daughter, Dorothy Arnold and husband, John, of Natchez; six grandchildren, John Arnold and wife, Patty, of Jackson, George Arnold and wife, Penny, of Shreveport, Hugh Arnold and wife, Hollie, of Natchez, Terri Benoit and husband, Ted, of Conroe, Texas, Darlene Lauve and husband, Danny, of Jasper, Texas, and Deborah Vickers and husband, Keith, of Minden, La.; ten great-grandchildren; niece, Peggy Allen of Georgia; close friend, Frances Devall; and former daughter-in-law, Carol Crain and husband, Chick.

JONESVILLE – Services for Pansy McCall, 86, of Jonesville, who died Sunday, Nov. 12, 2006, at Riverland Medical Center-Ferriday, will be 11 a.m. today at Acme Baptist Church with the Rev. Gene Gaspard and the Rev. Cindy Robinson officiating.
Burial will follow at the church cemetery under the direction of Young’s Funeral Home, Ferriday.
Mrs. McCall was born Sept. 4, 1920, in Rapides Parish, the daughter of Simeon B. and Selonese Fisher. She was a resident of Jonesville, formerly a life-long resident of Acme, La., a housewife, and a member of the Acme Baptist Church, where she was pianist and secretary for many years.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles C. McCall; parents; sisters, Beatrice Charrier and Avis Allwell; and an infant.
Survivors include numerous nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Tim Charrier, Terry Tiffee, Charles McCall, Michael Sanders, and Milton Sanders.
