Services for Lou James Washington Jr., 55, of Natchez, who died Saturday, Dec. 2, 2006, at his residence, will be 1 p.m. Friday at Greater Saint Mark Baptist Church with the Rev. Maurice Irving and the Rev. Tracy Cusic officiating.
Burial will follow at the church cemetery under the direction of Robert D. Mackel and Sons Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from noon to 6 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Mr. Washington was born Jan. 15, 1951, in Adams County, the son of Lou James Washington Sr. and Margaret Shepard Washington King.
He was a carpenter and a roofer. His skill allowed him to roof various high pitch historic homes in downtown Natchez.
He was preceded in death by his parents; grandparents, Emma Washington, L. V. Washington, John Washington and Wash Morgan; and fiance, Annie Mae Norman.
Survivors include brothers, Levander Washington and wife, Patsy Ann, Netherlands Washington, Nathaniel Washington, and Kendrick Washington, all of Natchez; sisters, Mary Lee White of Vidalia, Patricia Jones of Natchez, Barbara W. Culbert and husband, Donald, of Fayette, and Estella Washington of Wichita Falls, Texas; special niece, LaShanda Taylor and husband, Robert, of Jackson; stepson, Clarence Norman and wife, Shanika; grandchildren, Ashley Kingsberry and C. J. Norman.
Pallbearers will be friends of the family.
