ST. JOSEPH — Services for Sammie Lee Gholston Sr., 59, of St. Joseph, who died Wednesday, Dec. 6, 2006, at his residence, will be 1 p.m. Sunday at St. John Baptist Church with the Rev. Aaron Germany officiating.
Burial will follow at Panola Cemetery under the direction of Concordia Funeral Home, Ferriday.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Mr. Gholston was born Aug. 31, 1947, in Newellton, the son of Murphy and Pauline Jackson Gholston. He was a heavy equipment operator for Tensas Parish Police Jury. He served in the U. S. Army and had served in the Vietnam war.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Survivors include his wife, Sarah Watson Gholston of St. Joseph; daughter, Yolanda Brown and husband, Shawn, of St. Joseph; sons, Sammie L. Gholston Jr. and wife, Chacristy, of St. Joseph, Cantrall Guice of Tallulah, Keiotta Gholston and wife, Patricia, of Houston, Texas, and Derrick Gholston and wife, Jamie, of Las Vegas; brothers, Murphy Gholston Jr. and wife, Ellen, of St. Joseph and John E. Hansbrough of Winnsboro; father-in-law, Alex Watson of St. Joseph; 10 sisters-in-law; six brothers-in-law; 13 grandchildren; three aunts; and two uncles.
