Walter Haley

Services for Mr. Walter W. Haley, 85, of Natchez, who died Wed. Dec. 13, 2006, in Natchez, will be held 11 a.m. today at Community Chapel Church of God with the Rev. Steve Pearson and Father Walter Brown officiating.

Burial will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park under the direction of Laird Funeral Home.

Mr. Haley was born Jan. 16, 1921, in Meadville, the son of Richard Spencer and Ona Stevens Haley. He graduated from Franklin County High School. He served for 3 years in the Civilian Conservation Corps in California, as well as serving three years in the U.S, Army Paratroopers. He made three major combat jumps during World War II. He was a life member of the Harmony Lodge F & AM. Mr. Haley was a member of Community Chapel Church of God.

Mr. Haley was employed for 32 years as a mechanic for Natchez Equipment Company.
He also worked for Missouri Pacific Railroad as a chief engineer before retirement. He was an avid outdoorsman and a loving father and grandfather.
He is preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Richard Haley Jr. and James B. Haley; a sister, Nannie C. Haley.

Survivors include his loving wife of 57 years Rayma P. Haley of Natchez; daughter, Peggy H. Ainsworth and husband, Joe, of Natchez; grandchildren, Robin Michelle Ainsworth Franz and husband, Dennis, of Natchez and Joey Ainsworth and fiancee, Buffy Bolyer, of Vidalia; great-grandsons, Cameron, Colton and Carson Franz; great-granddaughters, Mady Ainsworth and Macy Hardy; sisters, Naomi Lange of Hollywood, Fla., Amanda H. Sullivan of Natchez and Willie M. “Billie” Brown of Terry; numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

Pallbearers will be his nephews and friends of the family.
