Services for Carrol Edwin “Ed” Ryan, 70, of Woodville, formerly of Lepanto, Ark., who died Wednesday, Dec. 20, 2006, at Our Lady of Lake Medical Center in Baton Rouge, will be at 11 a.m. today at Woodville Baptist Church with Brother Bernard Waites and the Rev. Warren Whitaker officiating.

Burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery in Woodville under the direction of Newman Funeral Home.

Visitation is from 10 a.m. until service time today at the church..

He was a native of Booneville and was a farmer. He was a founding member of the Board of Directors of Wilkinson County Christian Academy, a member of Ducks Unlimited and Woodville Baptist Church and was a 32nd Degree Mason. He was a member of Oddfellows, voted Outstanding Young Farmer of the Year, served and was still an active member on the Board of Directors of National Association of Institutional Agriculture.

Mr. Ryan was preceded in death by his parents, J.P. and Mary Eva Crabb Ryan; two brothers, Charles Marion and Kenneth Harold Ryan; and a grandson, Ryan Alan Knighton.

Survivors include his wife, Peggy Sue Morgan Ryan of Woodville; two daughters, Carrie Renee Ryan Hathorn of Prentiss and Susan Ryan Knighton of Natchez; three sons, Eddie Dale Ryan of St. Francisville, Alan David Ryan and Jake Morgan Ryan, both of Woodville; one sister, Wanda Ruth Smith of Chicago; three brothers, Garry Quinnon Ryan, Ronnie Lee Ryan and James Lynn Ryan, all of Lepanto, Ark.; 15 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be his grandsons, Scott Hathorn, Adam Ryan, David Ryan, Justin Ryan, Jason Smith, Jeremy Pace, Jerrick Pace, Ben Lewis, Tucker Ryan and Noah Pace.
