NATCHEZ &8212; Both development proposals on the table for the Roth Hill land involve casinos.
The Natchez Riverfront Development Group in Jackson and Lane Company from Atlanta submitted the proposals.
The Natchez Riverfront proposal would consist of 14 structures, including a river walk, floating casino, pavilion, hotel, amphitheatre and retail stores.
According to the proposal, base construction costs for the facilities, covering an area of 1,013,151 square feet, would be $88,338,780.
Four development phases would be completed in three and a half years.
The Lane Company proposal, includes a floating casino, landing, esplanade and botanical gardens at a cost of $48,106,169.
The casino and park grand opening would be in January 2007.
Nathcez Mayor Phillip West said he released the development proposals after receiving a Freedom of Information Act request.
&8220;There is some question as to whether the proposals should have been released prior to now,&8221; West said.
West also said he released the information only after both companies agreed to do so.
&8220;I am very pleased that the companies were willing to release the information to the public,&8221; West said. &8220;The Board of Aldermen, the companies and I feel comfortable that the information released does not contain any sensitive or confidential information.&8221;
West said he did not release the proposals before Friday because he wanted to share the proposals with three community members in confidence first.
&8220;I wanted some personal advice for myself because it&8217;s always good to have some unbiased eyes and opinions on the matter,&8221; West said.
West said the public would be invited Monday to listen to representatives of the companies give their proposals before the board.
One public meeting will take place at 4 p.m. and another at 5:30 p.m., West said.
West said the board would not vote Monday.
&8220;There are still too many questions we have to ask and get answers to to be in a position to determine which (proposal) is best for the city,&8221; West said.
