Fifteen days left until Christmas. Ready?
The stockings are hung, but the newsmakers haven&8217;t taken off for the Christmas holiday yet. Let&8217;s review some of the good news from last week:
4The long-talked-about business incubator in Ferriday is about nine months from opening. Once up and running, the community center will become a place where private business owners can lease space to get their feet on the ground. They&8217;ll pay a small rent fee, and hopefully will make enough money to eventually buy a building of their own. The incubator could be the perfect economic jumpstart for the town.
4Law enforcement officers from several agencies in the Miss-Lou teamed up last week to take five suspected drug dealers off the streets. The Concordia Drug Task Force, Concordia Parish Sheriff&8217;s Office, Vidalia Police Department, Catahoula Parish Sheriff&8217;s Office and Adams County Sheriff&8217;s Office credited each other and teamwork for the break in the case.
4The City of Vidalia is preparing to close the deal with Louisiana Elastomer (LAEL), a company bringing a rubber recycling plant to town. The company plans to create 35 jobs in the first year, 65 the next year and eventually as many as 130 jobs. LAEL is investing $10 million and another $1.5 million is coming from a private investor.
Things are looking up for the coming year, but let&8217;s end this one on a good note first.
