Beesley is educator, not just coach

Sports are games of numbers. Wins, losses, touchdowns, runs, points &8212; everything about the world of sports is measured in numbers.
But for Coach Ken Beesley it wasn&8217;t the numbers that mattered. His success didn&8217;t come with win No. 200. It didn&8217;t come with the winning score on a state championship scoreboard. It didn&8217;t even come with the title &8220;30-year coaching veteran.&8221;
Beesley has measured his success on people, faces and lives touched.
And that&8217;s a number no one can estimate.
As the Cathedral head football coach for nearly 30 years, Beesley taught on the field and off. He taught math in the classroom and passing formations on the grass, but the lessons in between are the ones that really mattered.
Coaches likely teach the world&8217;s lessons better than anyone. Day in and day out they preach dedication, hard work, perseverance, team work and overcoming defeat.
And Beesley has been a top of the line coach.
Cathedral has a few more years left of Beesley&8217;s influence in the classroom, but on the football field, it just won&8217;t be the same.
Beesley will leave a legacy, though. He&8217;s built a strong foundation at Cathedral, not only as a coach, but as an educator.
