Rollo Boyd

Graveside services for Rollo William Boyd, 91, who died Sunday, Dec. 31, 2006, at Magnolia Estates in Lafayette, La., will be at 2 p.m. today at Greenlawn Cemetery with the Rev. Ron Ledford officiating.
Burial will follow at the cemetery under the direction of Laird Funeral Home.
Mr. Boyd was born Dec. 9, 1915, in Hampo, La., the son of Jeff and Lillie Neal Boyd.
He grew up in Natchez and met and married the love of his life, Pharis Jane Carr. They were married June 27, 1936. They were married 71 years.
Mr. Boyd will be remembered as the singing, yodeling gateman at Longwood Plantation. He worked at the house, which he loved, for 22 years after his retirement. Mr. Boyd was employed by Armstrong Tire & Rubber Company for 32 years. He also owned and operated Boyd’s Eggs for 35 years.
Mr. Boyd proudly served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.
Visitation will be from noon to 1:30 p.m. at Laird Funeral Home.
Mr. Boyd was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Lillie Mae and Nell.
Survivors include, his loving wife, Pharis Jane Boyd; one daughter, Jane Boyd Tew and her husband Billy; three grandchildren, Lisa Cummins and her husband Patrick, Tara Lutz and her husband Jeff and Jay Tew and his wife Shannon; eight great-granchildren, Lauren and Michael Cummins, Bryan, Hannah and Stephen Lutz Jordan and Cameron and Taylor Tew; one brother, Ollie Boyd; two sisters, Jerine Armtson and Sarah Neal; several nieces and nephews. He loved his family and was so proud of them.
Pallbearers will be Jay Tew, Jeff Tew, Michael Cummins, Bryan Lutz, Tim Cotton, Roy Cotton and Patrick Cummins.
