Services for Adolph Freeman, 84, of Natchez, who died Tuesday, Jan. 2, 2007, at Natchez Community Hospital, will be 2 p.m. Friday at McNeely Road Church of God with the Rev. Julius Roberts, the Rev. Steve Bullion, and the Rev. Walter Bateman officiating.
Burial will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park under the direction of Laird Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. today at the church.
Mr. Freeman was born March 5, 1922, in Liberty, the son of Lee and Annot Coleman Freeman. He was a member of McNeely Road Church of God where he served on the Finance Committee and was chairman of the Usher Committee. He served in the United States Navy in World War II. He retired from Coca Cola Bottling Company in 1987.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and sister, Ina Davis.
Survivors include his wife of 67 years, Effie Mae Freeman of Natchez; children, Lonnie Freeman of Long Beach, Lester Freeman of Livingston, Tenn., Joyce Allred of Natchez, Nina Deane Ashley and Dowyal Freeman, both of Lawrenceburg, Tenn., Jack Freeman of Olive Branch, and Wilma Welsh of Hendersonville, Tenn.; brothers, Otis Freeman of Splendora, Texas, Flavius Freeman of Natchez, and Larry Freeman of Coldspring, Texas; sisters, Katherine Whittington of Smithdale, Era Dell Bateman of Cleveland, Tenn., Faye Martin of Blytheville, Ark., and Shirley Hughey of Natchez; ten grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Brian Allred, Anthony Ashley, Christopher Freeman, Steve Freeman, Doug Kave, and Philip Welsh Jr.
Honorary pallbearers will be Ushers of McNeely Road Church of God.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to a charity of choice.
