Services for Sarah Garrison, 79, of Vidalia, who died Saturday, Dec. 30, 2006, at Riverland Medical Center, will be 11 a.m. Friday at Zion Baptist Church, Magnolia Street, with the Rev. Raymond Riley and the Rev. Willie Hayes officiating.

Burial will follow at Vidalia City Cemetery under the direction of Robert D. Mackel and Sons Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from noon to 6 p.m. today at the funeral home and from 10 a.m. until service time Friday at the church.

Mrs. Garrison was born July 23, 1927, in Concordia Parish, the daughter of Joseph Allen and Henrietta Allen. She was a Baptist and founder of the Zionettes. She was employed with the Concordia Parish School System for many years. She was also a licensed beautician.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and sisters, Clara Thomas, Rosie Lee Herron, Mary Williams, and Beatrice McFarland.

Survivors include her sons, Charlie Williams and his wife, Margie, Clyde Williams and his wife, JoAnne, Roosevelt Williams and Walter Williams and his wife, Erica; goddaughter, Tricia Burden of Monroe; brothers, Johnny Hayes and his wife, Catherine, of Nashville, Tenn., and the Rev. Willie Hayes and his wife, Louise, of Chicago, Ill.; 13 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; a number of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends; her extended family, Helen Alice Lloyd and Julie Tyler and her husband, Donald.

Pallbearers will be friends of the family.
