Floyd, Goodrich named Alpheus king, queen

Mystic Krewe of Alpheus held its Twelfth Night party Saturday and announced the 2007 king and queen.
They are King Alpheus XVI Samuel L. Floyd and Queen Arethusa XVI Sharon Bell Goodrich.
The king and queen will reign with their court members: Duke Toby Williams, Duchess Dottie Novak, Duke Bryan Dantone, Duchess Dorothy Perkins, Duke David Baity, and Duchess Anne Stowers.
The Krewe of Alpheus theme for 2007 is Great Rivals. The parade will be Feb. 9 and the grand ball, Feb. 10.
Floyd has been a resident of the Miss-Lou for the past 25 years. He is the son of Samuel C. and Evon Floyd. He is married to Amanda K. Floyd and has three children, Clay, 18; Beth, 15; and Lille Kay, 7 weeks.
Floyd is the senior human resources sergeant for the Mississippi Army National Guard. He serves as the head referee in the Athletic Youth Association. He is also a veteran of Operation Iraqi Freedom 2005.
He is the Mississippi Private School Association District 8 football and basketball official. He is a member of the Mystic Krewe of Alpheus.
His hobbies and interests include officiating youth and high school sports. His favorite things to do are spending time with his family and hanging out with friends, especially at New Orleans Saint’s Games.
Goodrich has been a resident of Natchez since 1996, when she was named director of Natchez National Cemetery. A native Californian, she very much prefers her adopted state of Mississippi.
She is married to John Phillips Goodrich Sr., a retired U.S. Army officer, and they are the parents of Laura Webster Jones, John Phillips Goodrich Jr., Mary Goodrich Cheney, and Donald Stuart Webster. She and John share five grandchildren, four living in Fort Wainwright, Alaska and one in California.
She is the daughter of Beryl Gatlin Bell of Daggett, Calif., and the late Robert Forrest Bell. She is a graduate of Barstow High School in the Class of 1964, received an associate of arts Degree from Barstow College in 1966 and attended Chapman College with a major field of study in medieval history.
