Services for Joe Jackson, 88, of Fayette, who died Sunday, Jan. 7, 2007, at Natchez Community Hospital, will be noon Saturday at Hollywood Baptist Church with the Rev. Dr. E. E. Colenberg officiating.

Burial will follow at the church cemetery under the direction of Spencer Funeral Home, Fayette.

Visitation will be from 2 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Mr. Jackson was born July 4, 1918, in Fayette, the son of Andrew and Lula B. Jackson, He was the fifth of 14 siblings. He was a member of Hollywood Baptist Church for over 70 years where he served as Sunday School superintendent, deacon, treasurer of the building fund and church treasurer. He retired from International Paper Company and Jefferson County Sheriff Department. He was a lifetime member of the NAACP, member of Mountain Valley Lodge No. 6 and a 33rd Degree of Ancient Free and Accepted Mason.

He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Leonard; and siblings, Ed Jackson, Regina Harried, Corrie Charley, Julius Jackson, Benard Jackson, Mildred Montgomery, Mearl Dunmore, Will T. Jackson, Allen Jackson and Laura Council.

Survivors include his wife of 66 years, Doretha Dunlap Jackson of Fayette; children, Carolyn J. Sheppardson and husband, Thomas, of Kennesaw, Ga., Marilyn J. Williams and husband, Beachman, of Shreveport, Lameta Johnson of Tacoma, Wash., Samuel A.H. Jackson of Jackson, Camille Jackson of Natchez, Clara J. Moore, Bertha James, Geraldine J. McCoy, Joeretha J. Stringer and husband, Frank, Andrew Jackson, Henrietta J. Cadney and husband, Clyde, Donald Ray Jackson and wife, Bridget, all of Fayette; sister, Thelma Green of Memphis, Tenn.; brothers, Amos Jackson and wife, Audrey of Marrero, La. and Andy Jackson of Fayette; sister-in-law, Louise Jackson of Fayette; brother-in-law, David Herrington of Fayette; god-daughter, Latasha Woodard; 37 grandchildren; 43 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; a number of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
