Services for William “Bill” Coker, 82, of Jonesville, who died Thursday, Jan. 11, 2007, will be 2 p.m. Monday at Oak Grove Free Methodist Church with Bros. Lester Johnson, Ed Cotten and Tammy Gammill officiating.

Burial will follow at Pine Grove Cemetery under the direction of Young’s Funeral Home, Jonesville.

Visitation will be from 5 p.m. Sunday until service time at the church.

Mr. Coker was born Sept. 29, 1924, the son of William Wiley and Irene Montpelier Coker. He was a resident of Jonesville, a retired carpenter and a member of Patton Baptist Church. He served as a business agent for the United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Iron Workers Local 303 and was a member and coloner of Four-Rivers for veterans. He served his country in the United States Army during World War II in the Pacific Theater.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Joe Coker; and three sisters, Clara Martin, Beatrice Regan and Bertie Coker.

Survivors include his wife, Arlene Boren Coker of Jonesville; five daughters, Sue Amos and her husband, Wade, of Pasadena, Texas, Elsie Coker of Houston, Texas, Frances Wyles and her husband, Gordon, of Jonesville, Diane Wiggins and her husband, Doyle, of Jonesville, Beverly Spann and husband, Billy, of Jonesville; brother, Jimmy Coker of Saline, La.; brother-in-law, Derek Boren of Hampton, Ark.; 11 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be grandsons, Tommy Wyles, Derek Wiggins, Christopher Spann, Henry Wayne Spann, Brent Dawson and Jeremy Jones.

Honorary pallbearers are Butch Bass, Pee Wee Bass, Charles Watson anad Willie Ray Bridges.
