Gertrude Atwell

Services for Gertrude W. Atwell, 87, formerly of Georgetown, La., who died Wednesday, Jan. 17, 2007, in Natchez, will be 1 p.m. Friday at New Union Baptist Church.
Burial will follow at Lincecum Cemetery under the direction of Young’s Funeral Home, Ferriday.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. today at the church.
Mrs. Atwell was born April 14, 1918, in Nacogdoches, Texas, the daughter of Sam and Ida Whitaker. She was a homemaker and a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Willie D. Atwell Sr.; her parents; a brother; and eight sisters.
Survivors include her daughters, Mary Hall and husband, Kenneth, of Vidalia and Dale Goodman of Colfax, La.; sons, Sammy Atwell and wife, Barbara, of Natchez, A. W. Atwell and wife, Betty, Willie D. Atwell and wife, Annie, and Stanley Atwell, all of Georgetown; sisters, Jewel Atwell of Pollock, La. and Carmel Benson of Rusk, Texas; numerous grandchildren; great-grandchildren; and great-great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Jerry Nugent, Eugene Hall, Collin Hall, Jeff Atwell, Todd Atwell, and O. D. Atwell.
