Ronald Edward Cassel, 70, of Longview, died Wednesday, Jan. 17, 2007, at a local nursing home.

Mr. Cassel was born March 6, 1936, in Elizabeth, N.J., the son of Edward and Margaret Sheedy Cassel. He was a self-employed real estate entrepreneur. Mr. Cassel served his country in the United States Army. He was a distinguished Asbury Park Councilman.

Survivors include his children, Colleen Elizabeth Kelly Tayara and Shannon Susan Havner, both of Washington State, Christie Anne Carter and Derek Anders Cassel, both of Longview, Christian Edward Kerry Cassel of Vienna, Austria, Heather Moor Murray of Virginia; sister, Gail Reilly and husband, Frank, of New Jersey; 13 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
