A 67-year-old black male was killed Saturday night after being struck by a Ford Explorer.
The man was pushing his bicycle across Carter Street when he was hit by an SUV traveling in the east-bound lane at approximately 40 miles per hour.
Vidalia Police Department recieved a call at 6:01 p.m. The man was killed immediately, Investigator Charles Hall said.
Hall said that the main factor in the incident was the weather, and the slickness of the road. Lighting was a secondary factor.
Alcohol was not involved as far as police know, but blood will be tested for drugs and alcohol.
Hall said that names are not being released until the investigation is complete.
This incident marks the second of its kind in a week.
Tuesday, around 6 p.m., Joe Bowman, 57, of Vidalia, was killed when he was hit by a van while crossing Carter Street.
