Services for James Monroe Thompson, 68, of Southfield, Mich., who died Friday, Jan. 19, 2007, in Detroit, will be noon Friday at Robert D. Mackel and Sons Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Robert Minor officiating.
Burial will follow at the Natchez National Cemetery under the direction of Robert D. Mackel and Sons Funeral Home.

Visitation will be from noon until 5 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Mr. Thompson was born Sept. 23, 1937, in Adams County, the son of George Thompson and Thelma Thompson. He was a graduate of S. V. Thompson High School and taught at Natchez College. He was retired from the Wayne County Public School System. He was a veteran of the United States Army.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Oliver Thompson.

Survivors include his son, Jason Thompson of Michigan; brother, Wilbert Thompson and wife, Mamie, of Slidell, La.; sister, Thelma Thompson White of Natchez; nieces, Thelma L. Thompson of Slidell and Adair M. Jackson of Jackson; nephew, Mark Mitchell of Vicksburg; other relatives and friends.

Pallbearers will be friends of the family.
