Adams County Christian School finished out the regular season in winning fashion as the Lady Rebels defeated Franklin Academy 64-33 on ACCS senior night.

The game began as a blowout and never changed. The Ariana DeLasalle show was on in prime time, with limited interruption. DeLaSalle scored 13 of the Lady Rebels 23 first-quarter points. She finished the game with 21 points total.

The Lady Rebels built an early lead by starting the game on a 14-0 run before the Lady Cougars made a mark on the scoreboard. At the end of the first quarter, the Lady Rebels led 23-7.

“It was a big night for us. We had eight seniors and all contributed,” said Lady Rebel head coach Chuck Bauerle. “That’s what’s important.”

Bauerle said the press worked well for the Lady Rebels in the first part of the game, and added his team has come together and is shooting the ball well.

ACCS endured a low-scoring second quarter offensively, but their defense limited the Lady Cougars to only four points, with only one field goal, to lead at halftime 32-11.

After the half the Lady Rebels continued to work to build on their lead by outscoring Franklin Academy 14-10 in the third, and carried a 46-21 lead into the final quarter.

From there, the Lady Rebels put their game on the cruise control, but did not slow down offensively.

Katie Ann Swinny, who finished with 13 points, scored seven of the Lady Rebels final 18 points of the regular season to help give the Lady Rebels their 27th win of the season with a 64-33 victory.

“They are a good group of girls that have worked real hard all season,” Bauerle said. “I think we have gotten out of the lull that we fell into after Christmas break. That makes me feel good as we head into the district tournament and South State.”

Franklin Academy boys 62, ACCS 38

Adams County Christian School had a tough night in the paint, and shot poorly from the field as they fell to Franklin Academy 62-37 on senior night.

“They out-rebounded us and that was the key to the game,” Rebel head coach Josh Loy said.

Despite not scoring a point in the first six minutes of play, the Rebels stayed within seven points of the Cougars as the Rebels’ offense scored five points in final two minutes of the first quarter, and the defense limited Franklin Academy to 12 first-quarter points.

But the Cougars stepped up their efforts on offense, and increased their lead to 14 by the end of the first half.

Matthew Marks, who made four shots from behind the arc and finished with 15 total points, knocked down two three-pointers in the second quarter to cut into the Franklin lead, but the Rebels still trailed 31-17 at the half.

The Cougars used the third quarter to put the game out of reach for the Rebels. Franklin Academy outscored ACCS 17-4 in the third to take a 41-21 lead.

Nick Herring scored all four points for the Rebels in the third quarter.

The Rebels heated up in the fourth quarter, but by then it was too late and the Cougars cruised to the 62-38 road victory.

“We matched up well against them, but we didn’t make shots and we gave them too many opportunities,” Loy said.

“We have one game left. If we win we keep going, so we have to keep working hard.”
