Singh getting start at Co-Lin

Harry Singh always expected to play college football. He just never expected that day to come so soon.
The star Trinity offensive tackle who anchored a line that allowed Stevan Ridley to rush for more than 3,000 yards this season, enrolled early at Copiah-Lincoln Community College this semester.
In a somewhat convoluted situation, Singh dropped out of Trinity Episcopal and enrolled in Vocational Tech classes on the Wesson Campus this semester. He will go through spring drills with the Wolves’ football team and then take his GED this summer.
“When I was in New York (in ninth grade) I failed an English class, and I never retook it,” he said. “When I came here, I was left back a grade. (Trinity headmaster) Dr. (Delecia) Carey told me I’d be ineligible to play my senior year next year.”
With that realization, Singh said his coaches decided the best option for him would be to immediately enroll at the junior college level.
“Coach (David) King and Coach (Matt) Mason told me this would be the best thing for me if I wanted to play college football,” Singh said. “I’m kind of excited about it, but I’m kind of nervous, too.”
In the meantime, Singh will attend his classes, work out with his new teammates and acclimate himself to college life. He expects to contribute next season for the resurgent Wolfpack football team.
“I’m going to start next season at offensive guard,” Singh said. “I’m going to put more effort into my classes. After that I hope to get into a Division I school like Jackson State or Alcorn State, or maybe LSU with Stevan (Ridley).”
