Services for Vera Cavin McCollum, 83, of Natchez, who died Friday, Feb. 2, 2007, at her residence, will be 2 p.m. today at Laird Funeral Home Union Street Chapel with the Rev. Mike Harrigill officiating.

Burial will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park Cemetery.

Visitation will be from noon until service time at the funeral home.

Mrs. McCollum was born Aug. 13, 1923, in Perrytown, the daughter of Harper Perry and Eleese Ashley Perry. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Natchez.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and her husbands, Whitley Cavin and Floyd McCollum.

Survivors include her son, Herman Cavin and wife, Gwen, of Wesson; daughter, Betty C. Smith and husband, Roger, of Natchez; grandchildren, Roger Allan Smith and wife, Dawn, of Metairie, La., Kevin Michael Smith and wife, Sandy, of Natchez and Lea Ann Cavin Knight and husband, Phillip, of Wesson; great-grandchildren, Whitney Knight, Cullen Smith, Sarah Ashley Smith, Alex Raymond and Danielle Raymond; sisters, Ruby Mae Cavin of Natchez and Etta Lee Trevillion of Baton Rouge; and sister-in-law, Annie Ruth Perry of Natchez.

Pallbearers will be Allan Smith, Kevin Smith, Phillip Knight, Vernon Cavin Jr., Randy Trevillion and C.P. Cavin.

Memorials may be made to Hospice Ministries of Natchez or to a charity of your choice.
