Services for Glenn Earl Ratcliff, 72, of Ferriday, who died Monday, Feb. 12, 2007, at Heritage Manor Health, will be 11 a.m. today at First Baptist Church, Ferriday with the Revs. Wayne Gray and Roger Johnson officiating.

Burial will follow at 3:30 p.m. at Lynn Cemetery, in Archibald, under the direction of Young’s Funeral Home, Ferriday.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until service time today at the church.

Mr. Ratcliff was born April 7, 1934, in Monroe, the son of Ollie and Annie Mae Ratcliff. He was a resident of Ferriday since 1960 and a long-time member of First Baptist Church. He served as a deacon, taught fifth- and sixth-grade boys and girls in Sunday School for over 15 years, and was an active member of the adult choir for many years. Mr. Ratcliff owned and operated Concordia Drugs of Ferriday as a pharmacist for over 32 years. He served on the Ferriday Town Council as Alderman for 13 years. He was past president of Kiwanis Club of Ferriday, serving as Treasurer for over 34 years. He was past president of the Chamber of Commerce of Ferriday as well as serving and coordinating volunteers for the Ferriday Delta Museum.

Mr. Ratcliff was preceded in death by his parents; and sister, Peggy Hill of Mangham, La.

Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Mickey Brown Ratcliff of Ferriday; his daughter, Donna Ratcliff Melson and husband, Brian, of Columbia, S.C.; sons, Dan Ratcliff and wife, Alisa, of Natchez and David Ratcliff and wife, Darla, of Prairieville; sister, Mary Lynn Smart and husband, Clinton, of Archibald; 12 grandchildren, Leah, Clayton, Hope, and Hannah Melson, Andrew, Jonathan, and Rebecca Ratcliff, Lawson, and Malory Ratcliff, Matthew, Nicholas, and Jarrett Gautreau; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Rusty Wood, Charlie Smart, Wayne Smart, Glenn Smart, Brent Smart and John Taylor.

Honorary pallbearers will be Frank Smith, Dr. Herman Gibson, Floyd Bruce Boughton, Tommy Massey, the Deacons of First Baptist Church of Ferriday, and the members of the Ferriday Kiwanis Club.

Many thanks and God’s blessings to those who cared for Glenn, especially his friend, Dr. Herman Gibson, the nurses and staff at Heritage Manor Nursing Home, and the church family, friends, and neighbors who have shown their love and support during his illness the past few years.
