Services for Lucille Jones Beasley, 86, of Ferriday, who died Thursday, Feb. 15, 2007, at Natchez Regional Medical Center, will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Young’s Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. Wayne Gray and Roger Johnson officiating.

Burial will follow at Natchez City Cemetery under the direction of Young’s Funeral Home, Ferriday.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

Mrs. Beasley was born Dec. 29, 1920, in Merigold, the daughter of Thomas B. Jones and Saddie Jones. She was a graduate of Ferriday High School and later received her BS Degree from Louisiana Tech in 1941. She returned to Ferriday as a Home Economics teacher and retired after 33 years of service. All of her former students will remember her as a loving, dedicated teacher who touched the hearts of many students. In 1930 she joined the First Baptist Church of Ferriday where she was an active member her entire life. The love of her life was her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a member of the Community Service Club, Louisiana Retired Teachers Association and was always active in other community activities.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Johnnie Beasley; her parents; and sister, Margaret Jones.

Survivors include her son, William “Bill” Beasley and wife, Gloria, of Ferriday; daughters, Johnnie Ruth Rogillio and husband, Howard, of Slidell, La. and Patsy Taunton and husband, Thomas, of Ferriday; grandsons, Scott Rogillio, William Thomas Beasley II, and Thomas Zane Taunton; granddaughters, Wendy Taunton Olds, Staci Rogillio Ragsdale, Amy Taunton Young and Sandi Beasley Smith; and 15 great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Warren Enterkin, Bill Colvin, Joe Webber, Wayne Miley, Bert Taunton and Sonny Tarver.

Honorary pallbearers will be Deacons of First Baptist Church of Ferriday, James Moore, Dr. Herman Gibson, Red Robertson, Jack Adams and Oscar K. McNeely.

Memorials may be made to Louisiana Baptist Children’s Home in Monroe, the Shrine Hospital or a church of choice.
