Natchez native Smith takes on Regions Financial role

JACKSON — Regions Financial Corp. is expanding the role of Mississippi Regional President Ronnie Smith to include 186 bank locations in Louisiana and eastern Texas. The Mississippi Banking Group will be renamed the Southwest Banking Group to more accurately reflect its expanded territory. Under Smith’s leadership, Regions and AmSouth banks will have the top deposit market share for the state of Mississippi and a leading presence in Louisiana.
Smith, a native of Natchez, has been with Regions and its predecessors for 25 years. He began his banking career in 1981 in the management training program of Deposit Guaranty National Bank in Jackson, where his career progressed through 1990. He then worked with Commercial National Bank in Shreveport, La.
Smith received his Bachelor of Business Administration degree from Mississippi College in Clinton. He is also a graduate of the LSU School of Banking in Baton Rouge.
Smith serves on the boards of the Metro Jackson Chamber of Commerce, Andrew Jackson Council, Boy Scouts of America, INROADS, Baptist Hospital and AmSouth Foundation. He is also active in the Jackson Rotary Club.
