Graveside services for Mrs. Eva John “Grandma” Nichols, 80, of Vidalia, who died Thursday, March 1, 2007, at Natchez Community Hospital, will be 11 a.m. today at Natchez National Cemetery.

Burial will follow at the cemetery under the direction Young’s Funeral Home, Vidalia, officiating.

Mrs. Nichols was born March 12, 1926, in Henderson, Texas, to Brooks and Hattie Davis, one of five children. She was a resident of Vidalia, and a homemaker. She could always be found at the ballpark watching her grandson and great-grandson playing ball.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Everette Davis; three sisters, Lucille Reynolds, Mattie Green and Edna “Sister” McShan.

She is survived by daughter, Jill Thomas of Natchez; grandson and great-grandson, James and Nate Thomas of Vidalia; son, Brooks Nichols and wife, Beverly, of Dallas; granddaughters, Kimberly and Chrystal Nichols; great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and her special girls, Denise Monaco of Natchez and Mandi Thomas of Vidalia.

Pallbearers will be Michael Williams, Bo Sproles, Bobby Mulvihill, Earl Cotten, Ben Thomas and Ray Freeman.

Honorary pallbearers will be Frank Thomas, Nate Thomas, Hunter Williams, Val Gene, Jimmy, Steven and Bobby Land and Mark and Butch Nichols.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Feed the Hungry, P.O. Box 577, Vidalia, LA, 71373.
