Adams County Christian School used consistent hitting to score 12 runs in six innings and defeat Wilkinson County Christian Academy 12-1 at home Friday afternoon.

“We swung the bats well, and we capitalized on their errors,” ACCS head coach Ron Rushing said. “That’s something we haven’t done lately.”

The Rebels (2-5) got things going early and scored two runs in the first inning, but their major run production came in the third, fourth and sixth innings where ACCS scored three runs in each.

The Rebels used multiple hits and good base running in the third and fourth innings to put runs on the scoreboard, but used their slugging ability to put the game away in the sixth.

In the sixth inning, with the Rebels leading WCCA 9-1, Dustin Carroll led off with a home run over the left field fence.

Two batters later, Jordan McElroy singled before Hunter Russ went yard to score McElroy and himself and put the game away.

The Rams’ (4-6) only run came in the top of the second inning, when Joseph Harvey singled to score Corey Havard.

“We can’t hit, we can’t catch and we throw an 0-2 count, game-winning pitch at the waist,” said Rams head coach Ray Olive. “You can’t win games like that.”

Olive said his club usually hits the ball well. The Rams only had two hits in the game.

“We made base running errors, we made fielding errors, but our biggest error was we didn’t come prepared to the game,” he said.

Luke Brumfield picked up the win for the Rebels on the mound by striking out three and allowing two hits. With the win Brumfield improve to 1-2 on the season. Darryl Higgins took the loss on the mound for the Rams.

With the win ACCS improves to 2-5, and will next face Brookhaven and Central Holmes in the Parklane Tournament on Tuesday beginning at 10 a.m. With the loss WCCA falls to 4-6, and will begin district play on Tuesday against Tensas.
