Southwest Mississippi needs industries

This is just about par for the course for Natchez. We don’t need a Toyota plant because the future of Natchez is in minimum-wage service jobs provided by tourism?

Is it fair to condemn residents of this city to working multiple jobs because the owners of the antebellum properties are afraid of ruining the touristy ambience with well-paying jobs?

This is not really news to anyone in Natchez, however. We’ve all known for some time that the city and county have never been serious about courting industry, but to have the gall to put it in print that there will never be anything here but these pathetic jobs is a slap in the face to all of the hardworking people who call Natchez home.

Southwest Mississippi is industry-poor because that is the way the leaders in this area want it. The only option at this point for the working people of southwest Mississippi is to get out the vote next election and throw the anti-industry crusaders out of office.
