County to auction off heavy equipment

The county may soon be a little lighter when it comes to heavy equipment.

The Adams County Board of Supervisors voted to auction off some heavy construction equipment, like road graders and bulldozers, at a meeting Thursday.

The meeting was a recess from the last supervisors meeting, intended to discuss potential litigation dealing with county property in executive session, Board Attorney Bob Latham said Thursday.

The board came out of executive session and dealt with the equipment issue, Latham said.

Supervisor S.E. “Spanky” Felter said he pointed out discrepancies between the county’s list of its equipment and a list from an auction company with prices they could expect to get from the equipment’s sale.

Serial numbers and unit numbers were mixed up in the auction company’s list, he said.

Felter said the board voted to allow him to use his “homework” to decide which equipment to sell and which, if kept, would save the county more money.
