With spring fast approaching, so too is Dixie Youth Baseball.

While the Vidalia and Ferriday leagues have already closed registration, Natchez Dixie Youth Baseball and Natchez-Adams Softball still have time left to register.

“Registration will wrap up Saturday, (March 24),” Belinda Brashier of the Natchez-Adams Softball League said. “We’re taking ages 5-19. They all kind of wait to the last week.”

Joe Eidt with Natchez Dixie Youth Baseball said his program is wrapping up registration Tuesday, but some stragglers may still be able to get in.

“People wait until the last minute,” he said. “We do have to have a cutoff. We’ve had some tournament dates that have moved forward, so we’re having to start at least a week earlier. Our board decided in our January meeting to start earlier to give folks a break between Dixie Youth and all-star season.

“If there’s someone that can’t make it Tuesday, we can still get them in before try-outs if there are extenuating circumstances. If there’s circumstances we can be lenient to a point. We have to cut off some time and try-out date (March 24) is usually it.”

Both are holding registration at Sports Center on Seargent S. Prentiss Drive, which is open from 9 a.m. until 6 p.m.

Eidt said Dixie Youth coaches would be meeting Wednesday to plan for the new season.
