Services for Emmie Newton, 93, of Winnsboro, who died Wednesday, March 21, 2007, at Plantation Manor Nursing Home, in Winnsboro, will be 10 a.m. today at Gill First National Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Milton McManus and Bro. Richard Cullum officiating.

Burial will follow at Caox Cemetery under the direction of Gill First National Funeral Home, Winnsboro.

Mrs. Newton was born Sept. 20, 1913, in Franklin County, the daughter of John and Alledia Randall Wilson. She was a member of Taylor Bayou Baptist Church. She loved to sew, work in her garden and bake her famous homemade tea cakes. She loved her family, especially her grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Clyde H. Newton; sister, Brazella “Coot” Wilson; brother, Sam Wilson; grandson, Keith Len Newton; granddaughter, Denise Ann Lively; great-grandson, Brad Newton; and son-in-law, Marcus “Pete” Lively.

Survivors include her son, Clyde Lester Newton and wife, Hilda, of Winnsboro; daughter, Bobbie J. Lively of Ridgecrest; grandchildren, Craig Newton and wife, Jennifer, Rena Newton, Omira Newton, Donald R. Lively Sr. and wife, Blinda, and Edward “Cricket” Lively and wife, Diane; 13 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; a brother, Bob Wilson and wife, Joan; a number of nieces, nephews and friends.

Pallbearers will be Craig Newton, Scott Newton, Donald R. Lively Sr. and John Allen Norris.
